Anti-Plastic Feminism – Feminist Porn Book

Taryn and Bokka 16 May 2010

I have been thinking about Plastic Feminism today, the well-packaged, well-marketed, rigid, glossy, appealing brand that I first spoke about in my post Plastic Feminism. I have a mountain of books, journals, blogs and articles to get through, but top of my list is this:

I think it is crucial to examine the complexities in the arguments surrounding ‘porn’ (what even is porn? what is the definition?) and to not reduce all porn to violence against women or degrading to women.

I will be sure to do another blog once I have read it and ponder some of the main ideas. Has anyone else read it? What did you make of it? I have appreciated and enjoyed all the feedback so far, the debate and discussion, so please do get in touch either by commenting on here, or via twitter, I am @princessjack. It has been especially interesting so far to hear from people who do not support Page 3 or Porn, but agree with many of my points about what I do not like No More Page 3. This is great! I am enjoying dissecting the issues.
